View Full Version : RD's New Pro Wrestling Thread
Well since my wrestling thread was pretty popular on the old forum, I decided to make one here for the new forum. I will pop up here from time to time with News from the net, Sometimes I will review a show be it old WWF stuff, WWE stuff, WCW stuff, TNA stuff or any old PPVs I have. If there is a show you would like me to review let me know here and if I have it and when I get the time, I will review it. :big_evil
Here is some news to start off.

John Cena vs Armando Alejandro Estrada
Triple H vs Edge
Speaking of WWE shows, WWE will hold their annual Tribute to the Troops special from Iraq Christmas night on USA. It will feature stars from Raw, Smackdown and ECW. Here are the matches that will take place:

I loved the days where the WWF and WCW battled each other for ratings (when it was (RAW vs. NITRO) I think it is dissapointing that Mcmahon had to buy out WCW.
It made it so much more exciting!............Especially when WCW had the Sting vs. Hogan/nWo feud for like a year and a half..................That was sweet!:wink01:
The only reason that Vince McMahon bought WCW was because Turner network canceled all WCW programing from TBS and TNT and ordered that WCW be sold. Eric Bischoff tried to buy it and had backing to help purchase it but Bischoff's backer had pulled out of the deal after the shows were canceled. To read more about that from two different sides, may I recommend Controversy Creates Cash by Eric Bischoff and The Death of WCW by another RD, RD Reynolds and Bryan Alvarez.
One more recommendation. RD Reynolds has a Wrestling Website called Wrestlecrap.com that talks about the worst in wrestling. It is a very funny website.
Hey all
Sorry for not updating this thread as much as I should. I have been worked to death and I just work at a restaurant. Anyway, here is some quick news.
WWE have released 11 wrestlers today. Mostly from the ECW brand and they are:
Sylvester Terkay
Christopher W Anderson
Jazz
Rodney Mack
Tony Mamaluke
The Basham Brothers (Doug and Danny)
Al Snow (Snow will still be employed as a trainer)
The Gymini (Mike and Todd Shane)
Dave "Gangrel" Heath
This is the second time that the married couple of Jazz and Mack have been released together. They were released in 2004 and brought back in 2006 only to be released again today. Damn Vince can be so cruel from time to time. I didn't even know that Gangrel was even employed again.
WWE did however sign two new wrestlers to developmental deals
Cassidy Riley (A former TNA star who wrestled on ECW this week losing to Monty Brown in Brown's first ECW match)
Ace Steel (A Ring of Honor Wrestler who played the part of "Donald Trump" on Raw a few weeks ago)
That's all for now and I will try to update here from time to time.
Hey all
Some quick news.
The releases in WWE has continued as Smackdown star Tatanka was given his release. If anybody else gets released I will bring it here. That makes it a total of 12 wrestlers gone in two days.
Now for some sad news. WWE.com has reported that Scott Bigelow, better known as Bam Bam Bigelow was found dead in his Florida home this morning. He was 45.
Bigelow, known for his many tattoos including the flames tattooed on his head has been a big time player everywhere he went. He was in the WWF in the mid 80s but left after Wrestlemania 4. Bigelow also competed in the NWA and in Japan where teamed with Big Van Vader to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles. In late 1992, Bigelow returned to the WWF. He was given title shots against Bret Hart and almost beat him but came up just short. He beat the Big Bossman in a match at the 1993 Royal Rumble.
Bigelow made it all the way to the finals of the first King of the Ring Tournament on PPV in 1993 before losing to Bret Hart. Shortly after that PPV, Bigelow took Luna Vachon as his manager refering to her as his main squeeze. In late 1993, Bam Bam got into a fued with Doink The Clown (who had just turned face) when he played one trick too many on Bam Bam and Luna that ended at Wrestlemania 10 in 1994 when he and Luna beat Doink and Dink the Clowns in a mixed tag team match. Lost to Razor Ramon in the first round of the 1994 King of the Ring. Bam Bam and Luna split up and Bam Bam took on Ted DiBiase as his new manager. Bam Bam teamed with King Kong Bundy, Tatanka and The Heavenly Bodies to defeat Lex Luger, Adam Bomb, Mabel (Viscera) and The Smoking Gunns at Survivor Series 1994 with Bam Bam and Bundy surviving.
In 1995, friction started within Ted DiBiase's group after Bigelow and Tatanka in a bid for the Tag Team Titles after Bigelow was pinned by The 1-2-3 Kid. DiBiase blamed the loss squarely on Bigelow as he was left in the ring alone to be laughed at by the fans. It was there that he was involved in the most talked about incident ever when he confronted and shoved football star Lawrence Taylor. That set up the biggest match to that point for Bam Bam when he got into the ring against Taylor at Wrestlemania 11 in a match that Bigelow lost. Ted DiBiase again blasted Bigelow after the loss.
Bigelow finally left the DiBiase group after losing to then WWF Champion Diesel (Kevin Nash). After that Bam Bam turned face. Bam Bam and Diesel beat Sid Vicious and Tatanka in a tag team match at King of the Ring 1995. Beat Henry Godwinn at In Your House 2. Lost to Davey Boy Smith at In Your House 3. Lost to Goldust at Survivor Series 1995. Bigelow left the WWF shortly after that match.
Bam Bam went to ECW where he won and lost the ECW Title from Shane Douglas. In 1998, He won the TV Title from Taz and then lost it to Rob Van Dam. While in ECW, Bam Bam, Shane Douglas and the late Chris Candido formed the Triple Threat.
In late 1998, Bam Bam went to WCW where he lost a fued with Bill Goldberg. In 1999, Bam Bam was involved in another group with Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Kanyon called the Jersy Triad. They held the WCW Tag Team Titles a few times. Bam Bam also won the WCW Hardcore Title. Bam Bam remained in WCW from late 1998 until 2001 when WCW was bought out by Vince McMahon. During that time he was fueding with Shawn Stasiak. Bam Bam lost to Stasiak at WCW's last PPV Greed and again on WCW's last ever Nitro. Bam Bam retired a short time later.
In an interview in Smackdown Magazine in 2004, It was said that Bam Bam was running a Deli business. This is a sad loss and he will be missed.
That's all for now.

Bam Bam will be sadly missed:sa04:
Hey all
Not much in terms of wrestling news this weekend so I thought I would review a old WWE show. The show I have selected is Smackdown's No Mercy 2004. This would be the first time I am watching this show with a clear mind as I had lost my grandmother the night before this show. I just picked this up on DVD for $4.00 at Wal Mart so let's see how this goes
Original Airdate: October 3rd, 2004
Your Hosts: Michael Cole and Tazz
First the Sunday Night Heat footage that was included:
Josh Mathews interviews Billy Kidman.
Heat Match: Scotty 2 Hotty vs Mark Jindrak
(Jindrak had just joined a little Smackdown group with Kurt Angle and Luther Reigns after a failed gimmick as The Reflection of Perfection which was a 2004 version of The Narcissist Lex Luger. Jindrak pounds Scotty to start. Jindrak justs dominates Scotty nailing with a dropkick for two. Scotty comes back after getting out of a headlock. Scotty nails a couple clotheslines and a flying elbow. Jindrak gets one of his own. Scotty nails Jindrak with a superkick. Scotty goes for a bulldog but Jindrak ducked and nailed Scotty with a left hook punch and that was enough for the pin.)
Winner: Mark Jindrak
Rating: DUD
Now on to the PPV itself:
Opening Match: Eddie Guerrero vs Luther Reigns
(Reigns who was better known as WCW Jobber Horshu entered WWE as Kurt Angle's bodyguard. Guerrero and Angle had been fueding for much of 2004. After Reigns cost Guerrero a match against Angle, the fued with Guerrero was transfered to Reigns. Reigns brings out new teamate Mark Jindrak with him. Luther uses his power stuff. Eddie counters with his speed. Luther tries to kick Eddie in the mid section but Eddie grabs his leg and sweeps his other leg. Eddie nails a dropkick. Luther starts uses his power by lifting Eddie up and slams him for a two count. Luther continues to use his power to dominate. Luther puts Eddie in a bearhug but Eddie fights his way out by using the eyes. Reigns nails Eddie with a boot for a two count. Luther gets another two count after a few punches. Luther nails Eddie with a backbreaker. Eddie fights back but Luther throws Eddie out of the ring allowing Mark Jindrak to get a few cheap shots. Eddie tries to get a german suplex but Reigns powers out. Luther regains control and gets another two count. Luther gets another backbreaker. Luther gets another two count with a powerslam. Luther goes for a swinging neckbreaker but Eddie counters with an inverted DDT. Eddie gets his offense in and gets two out of three amigos (snap suplexes) but Reigns fights out of it before the third. Eddie lands out of the ring where he steals a cops police batons and plants it with his boot and grabs a chair. Eddie goes for his frogsplash but Luther misses. The ref gets the chair out of the ring giving Eddie time to nail Luther with the baton. Eddie goes up to get the frogsplash and nails him for the pin. Decent enough thanks to Eddie.)
Winner: Eddie Guerrero
Rating: *
Josh Mathews interviews Dawn Marie before confronting Jackie Gayda. More on this storyline later.
Cruiserweight Title Match: Spike Dudley vs Nunzio
(Nunzio beat Spike in a non title match on Smackdown to set this up. Spike is accompanied by Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley while Nunzio has Johnny Stamboli in his corner. A long lock up to start. Spike goes to the ropes to break the lock up. Some trash talking before Nunzio takes control. Nunzio hiptosses Spike out of the ring giving Spike some time to talk to Bubba and D-Von. Spike goes back in and takes control on Nunzio but Nunzio fights back and getting two two counts. Nunzio uses a armlock but Spike reverses. Nunzio reverses and throw Spike out of the ring again and nails Spike with a plancha. Nunzio throws Spike back into the ring and gets a two count. D-Von interferes giving Spike the advantage. Spike has Nunzio with a full nelson. Spike chokes out Nunzio and then gets into an arguement with the ref allowing Bubba and D-Von to get in a cheap shot. Spike gets another full nelson that Nunzio fights out of to regain control. Nunzio nails Spike with kind of a powerbomb. Both men get back up and Nunzio get control getting a few two counts. Nunzio lands the Sicilian Slice for a two count before Spike lands his feet on the rope. Both men goe out of the ring but Nunzio throws Spike back into the ring and gets a two count. Spike tries to hit the Dudley Dog but Nunzio turns it into a backslide for two. Bubba Ray gets on the apron to interfere but Nunzio fights him off. D-Von grabs Nunzio's leg but Stamboli fights him off. Spike argues with the ref while Bubba Ray interferes allowing Spike to finish off Nunzio. Some great wrestling from these two.)
Winner and Still Champion: Spike Dudley
Rating: ***
Paul London vs Billy Kidman
(London and Kidman were tag team partners who became Tag Team Champions and thing were going great for them as a team until Kidman accidently knocked Chavo Guerrero Jr out with his shooting star press. While the injury to Chavo was real. WWE decided to turn it into a storyline in which everytime Kidman went for the move, he would chicken out and it would cost Kidman and London tag team matches. That eventually cost Kidman and London the Tag Team Titles in a loss to Rene Dupree and Kenzo Suzuki. And that started the fued. Kidman is reluctant to start the match but London dominates to start and get a few two counts. London nails Kidman with a few dropkicks that knocks Kidman out of the ring. London hits a moonsault out of the ring. London throws Kidman back in and gets a two count. Kidman takes control after an eyerake. London tries to fight back but Kidman takes control and works on London's ribs. Kidman gets a two count after a gutbuster. Kidman gets another two count. Kidman contiues to nail London in the ribs. London fights back and nails Kidman with an enzigiri for a two count. Kidman nails London with the BK Bomb for a two count. London gets a two count with a roll up. Kidman nails London with a dropkick. Kidman was gonna go for the Shooting Star Press but Kidman stops and starts to bail but Kidman gets back in the ring. London fights back and goes to the top rope to hit the shooting star press but Kidman lifts the knees. Kidman goes up the top rope gets the Shooting Star Press himself for the pin. Match of the night.)
Winner: Billy Kidman
Rating: ***1/4
London is suffering internal bleeding coughing up blood. Kidman gets on the mic and blames the fans. Kidman nails London with another Shooting Star Press as London was strapped on a stretcher. After one rematch between the two, the fued was dropped entirely and Kidman was fired in 2005.
Josh Mathews interviews JBL.
Smackdown Tag Team Title Match: Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree vs Rob Van Dam & Rey Misterio Jr
(Not much history between these two teams. Kenzo and Dupree solidify themselves as a team by mixing their music up. Kenzo does a funny rendition of Bruce Springsteens "Born in the USA". RVD and Dupree start. Dupree trash talks and RVD does his act. Alot of counter moves and a few two counts from both men both men go for elbows and missing. RVD tags Misterio and Misterio gets a two count on Dupree before Dupree tags in Kenzo and Kenzo dominates Misterio to start. Misterio fights back. Rey with a baseball kick. Dupree tries to attack but lands out of the ring. Double plachas by the challengers to the champions. RVD gets a two count on Kenzo. RVD nails Kenzo with a spin kick and goes for the five star frogsplash but Dupree pushes RVD off the top rope and the champions isolate RVD. Kenzo and Dupree dominate RVD getting several two counts before finally tagging Rey. Rey nails Kenzo with a few kicks and gets a two count before Dupree interferes with the count. Rey with a few punches to Kenzo. Rey goes for the West Coast Pop for a two count. Kenzo nails Rey with a chop but Rey fights back. Rey goes for the 619 but Dupree stops him. RVD nails Dupree with the rolling thunder to eliminate him. Rey nails Kenzo with the 619. Rey attempts the drop the dimes move but Dupree interferes. Kenzo catches Rey with a roll up and the ropes for the pin.)
Winners and Still Champions: Kenzo Suzuki & Rene Dupree (Kenzo Pins Rey)
Rating: ***1/2
The Big Show vs Kurt Angle
(Big Show chokeslams Angle off a stage. Angle responds by shaving Big Show head on Smackdown. Show is turned face as a result. Trash talking from both men before Angle bails. Angle tries to get counted out but Theodore Long comes out and threatens to fire Angle if he did not return to the ring and continue the match. Big Show does some of his power stuff. Angle does alot of his wrestling stuff and tries to cheat. Both men get several two counts. Mid way through the match, Angle tried to use a dart gun to nail Show with a tranquilizer but Show grabs the gun and breaks it. Show chokeslams Angle for the win. Another somewhat decent match.)
Winner: The Big Show
Rating: **
US Title Match: Booker T vs John Cena
(This is match 5 in a best of 5 series. Cena had been robbed of the US Title by then General Manager Kurt Angle. Booker won it in an elimination match. To ensure that Cena got a fair shot at getting the title he never lost back, Theodore Long ordered a best of 5 series for the title between these two. Cena gets several two counts to start. Both men slug it out. Cena gets the upper hand and Booker lands out of the ring. Booker gains control but Cena fights back and gets another two count. Booker takes control and gets a two count after a spinebuster. Booker dominates and gets several two counts. Cena eventually fights back and nails Booker with the FU for the pin and the title.)
Winner and New Champion: John Cena
Rating *1/2
Cena would lose the title two nights later (four nights in TV time) to the debuting Carlito Caribbean Cool. Booker would turn face shortly after this as well.
Mixed Tag Team Match: Charlie Haas, Rico & Jackie Gayda vs The Dudley Boyz & Dawn Marie
(This is a combination of a few storylines. A blow off of The Dudley-Rico/Haas fued as The Dudleys beat them for the SD Tag Titles injuring Rico in the process. A fued started between Gayda and Dawn Marie after Dawn (in storyline) started hitting on Haas after Haas proposed to Gayda (That part was for real as the couple got married in 2005. WWE fired them as a wedding present but wound up resigning Haas. Gayda went to TNA but disappeared from TNA for maternaty leave. Ironically Dawn Marie was fired the same time as Haas and Gayda and she was pregnant at the time of her firing. Vince can be so cruel sometimes but back to the match.) Not much to discuss about the match but the parts with Rico was funny as hell. Example, Bubba Ray tried to get a kiss from Jackie even closing his eyes allowing Jakie to tag in Rico and he kisses Bubba Ray. Later in the match, The Dudleys were preparing to go for the Wazzup on Rico but Rico begs D-Von to do it even rubbing his privates with D-Von going I don't think so. Damn Rico was funny with his role. Sadly, Rico was fired shortly after this. To end this review of the match quick. Rico nails a moonsault on D-Von for the pin. This gets a point only for Rico's mindgames.)
Winners: Charlie Haas, Rico & Jackie Gayda (Rico pins D-Von Dudley)
Rating: *
Last Ride WWE Smackdown Title Match: JBL vs The Undertaker
(The rules of this match is whoever gets their opponent in the back of a hearse first is the winner. JBL got a lucky disqualification victory over The Undertaker at Summerslam to set this up. On a personal note, as I said earlier, I had lost my grandmother the day before this show so that dampered my enthusiasm for this type of match since I had to go down for the funeral four days later. They would bring this match back at Armageddon between Undertaker and Ken Kennedy and I still didn't care for this match stipulation. I probably will never get excited over this match stipulation. Rant over. So to end this match review quick. Undertaker beats the shit out of JBL. JBL gets a few lucky shots in but Undertaker dominates again almost gets the win but someone (in this case John Heidenreich) interferes and helps JBL put Undertaker in the hearse to retain.)
Winner and Still Champion: JBL
Rating: 1/2 *
After the match, The hearse (driven by Paul Heyman) is going backstage and Heidenreich gets into a truck and crashes into the hearse (supposedly with Undertaker in it) and runs off.
All and all: After three years and a clear mind, this show wasn't all bad except of course for the main event and the Scotty-Jindrak "Bonus Match". The undercard was pretty decent. It is at least worth $4.00 to view. Just skip out on the main event. That is my opinion. Thanks for reading.
That's all for now.

I just wanted to say goodbye to Bam Bam Bigelow who passed away last friday at age 45. I have attached a URL to read about it. The story says cause unkown but I heard on the radio today that they think it was due to a severe infection brought on by the diabetes he had been fighting for years. BAM BAM was one of my all time favorites back in the day.
GOOD JOB BAM BAM! YOU KICKED ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:icon_super:

Hey RD, I noticed that Undertaker was at Raw on Monday, ECW on Tuesday? Is he just scoping out the Champs to figure out which belt he'll be taking?
Blur
I think that is what Undertaker is doing. More then likely, he will stay on Smackdown and challenge Batista.
A little news:
WWE.com has removed Scotty 2 Hotty's bio from the Smackdown page and placed it on the Raw page. Scotty competed for the Raw brand this past Monday in either a dark match or a Heat match on WWE.com.
Have you seen Youtube? There are some people on there who are predicting that WWE will go out of business. They are TNA marks. If you have a Youtube account and want to check them out, type in the tag lines: WWE Sucks TNA Rules. Now I enjoy TNA as well as WWE and I respect some of their opinions but some of these people are just too much.
Hey all
Got some sad news to report from the net.
Mike Alfonso, better known to fans as Mike Awesome was found dead this weekend at the age of 42. Awesome was found Saturday night by friends as he was hanging so it was an apparent suicide. Nothing is official as of yet.
Awesome was a top star in Japan in the company FMW. There he had one of his best fueds with Masato Tanaka. Competed and dominated in ECW in 1999 and 2000 where he won the ECW Title on a few occasions.
Awesome made a controversial move when he debuted in WCW in 2000 while he was still ECW Champion. In a unique move, Awesome, now a WCW wrestler dropped the ECW title to WWF wrestler Taz in an ECW ring making it the only time that a WWF star beat a WCW star in an ECW ring.
While in WCW, Awesome had a number of different monikers. The Career Killer after throwing Chris Kanyon off the top of a steel cage. From there he was given two of the most embarrasing gimmicks in his career (Vince Russo was booking, what would you expect). First up was the Fat Chick Thriller which he would woo bigger women (tried to be nice as I don't believe in insulting people). The other was That 70s Guy where he was stuck in the decade of the 70s wearing polyester and doing stuff from hosting his own talk segment called the lava lounge to riding to the ring in the Partrage Family bus with Different Strokes star Gary Coleman. After those lame gimmicks, Awesome joined Lance Storm as part of Team Canada (Despite not really being Canadian). Storm and Awesome would fued with then WCW Tag Team Champions Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire.
Awesome stayed in WCW until 2001 when it was bought out by the WWF. Awesome was brought in the WWF as part of the Invasion angle. Awesome breifly won the WWF Hardcore Title by defeating Rhino then lost it a few weeks later to Jeff Hardy. Awesome had one more ppv match at Invasion teaming with Storm losing to Edge and Christian.
After that, Awesome suffered a leg injury that kept him out of action for the remainder of 2001. In 2002, Awesome made a brief WWE return as part of the Smackdown brand competing mainly on Velocity. Awesome was released a few weeks later.
Awesome would have a few matches in TNA and a few indys. Awesome made his last big time appearance at ECW One Night Stand in 2005 where he fought his long time rival Masato Tanaka.
Awesome is the second major wrestler to die this year. The first of course was Bam Bam Bigelow. Mike Awesome will be missed.
Hey all
Here is some news from the net.
TNA have released three people from it's roster last week and they are:
Elix Skipper and David Young (The Diamonds in the Rough)
A1 (Formerly of Team Canada)
There is talk that TNA will be forced by the NWA to give up the rights to use the NWA World Title as well as the NWA Tag Team Titles soon. The X Division Title is TNA's so that will be expected to stay there.
Some sad news
Allen Coage, known in Calgary, Alberta Canada as Bad News Allen and to WWF fans in the late 80s early 90s as Bad News Brown has passed away at the age of 63.
Coage was a mainstay at Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling where he fueded with both Bret and Owen Hart.
In the late 80s and early 90s, Bad News went to the WWF where he fueded with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart again, Roddy Piper and Jake Roberts.
Bad News is the third wrestler to die this year. Adding Bam Bam Bigelow and Mike Awesome to the list. 2007 has not been a kind year as far as wrestling deaths go. I hope I don't have to report anymore here too soon.
That is all the news for now.

I've been trying to follow Brock Lesnar since he left Japan. Do you have any Info on "Brock" Joining "UFC or K1"? What I read was he joined "K1" and he'll have his first Match "May-19-07" in Vegas, have you heard any info on this maybe?
Because if he is Fighting, I might make the trip to Vegas :big_evil
Hey all
Sorry I haven't been around so I thought I would send a little message here to say I all right.
Here is some wresting news this week:
There have been firings in both WWE and TNA:
TNA have released former NWA Tag Team Champions The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas).
WWE have released several wrestlers from their contracts this week and last week and here is the list of those fired:
Rob Conway
2 Cold Scorpio
Vito
Scotty 2 Hotty
Ariel
Nick Mitchell (Mitch from the Sprit Squad)
Angel Williams (WWE developmental star)
The biggest firing is that of ECW Star Sabu. Sabu, who has been on thin ice with WWE, was sent home for sulking about putting Kevin Thorn over on ECW this week and milked an injury he supposedly suffered. He has also shown up to events late and once forgot his ringwear and had to borrow Daivari's ringware.
WWE also granted the early release of Rob Van Dam. There had been rumors of RVD wanting to leave the WWE since late last year as he was apparently unhappy about not getting a push late last year. WWE had been wary about pushing RVD back to the top since he was arrested for drug possession last July.
Well that's all for now.
Hey All
I would like to take this time out to remember one of the best wrestlers to never win the World Title. I am talking about Owen Hart.
To all the new fans, Owen Hart was the youngest of 12 children of Wrestler Stu Hart and his wife Helen. One of Owen's older brother was none other of wrestling great Bret "Hit Man" Hart.
Owen competed for the WWF in 1987 or 1988. He wore a mask and was known as The Blue Blazer. Owen left the WWF after Wrestlemania 5 in 1989 and competed in Mexico, Japan and had a brief stint in WCW. Owen returned to the WWF in 1992 briefly teaming with real life brother in law Jim Neidhart to form The New Foundation (A version of the Hart Foundation comprised of Neidhart and Bret Hart.) After Neidhart left the WWF, Owen wrestled for a time as a single wrestler defeating Skinner at Wrestlemania 8 before teaming with Koko B. Ware to form High Energy.
After that team broke up, Owen was once again a singles competitor competing in opening contests. That all changed at Survivor Series 1993 when Owen was teaming with Bret and two of his other brothers in a tag team match. Owen was the only man eliminated from the match as his brothers was tending to an injured Bret. Afterwards, Owen came back and had a verbal argument with Bret. Owen later came out and said that he was tired of living in Bret's shadow and challenged him to a match and Bret refusing.
It looked like Bret and Owen put their differances aside as he teamed with Owen at the 1994 Royal Rumble to challenge for the Tag Team Titles. After Bret suffered a knee injury and could not tag out to Owen, the referee awarded the match to The Quebecers and Owen blaming Bret for the loss kicked him in the injured leg.
A match between the two was set for Wrestlemania 10 with Owen getting the pinfall. Owen's joy was short lived as Bret went on to win the WWF title later in the night. Owen challenged Bret for the WWF title at numerous shows throughout the spring and summer including a steel cage match at Summerslam 1994 with Bret winning each time. In between all the matches with Bret, Owen (With help from Jim Neidhart who instigated the Owen-Bret rift) won the King of the Ring Tournament in 1994.
After the fued with Bret died down in 1995, Owen won his first WWF Title when he teamed with Yokozuna to win the Tag Team Title from the Smoking Gunns. Owen and Yoko would hold them throughout the spring and summer before dropping the titles back to The Gunns in September.
After contending for titles in 1995 and 1996, Owen teamed with Davey Boy Smith (Another brother in law) to win the Tag Team Titles from The Gunns. In the beginning of 1997, a rift was teased between the two champions after Davey Boy beat Owen to become the first European Champion and the two would go on to breifly fight before Bret Hart (who had just turned heel) convinced the two to join him and thus The New Hart Foundation was formed. Jim Neidhart and Brian Pillman would also join the Foundation. The Foundation's storyline was of course the whole USA vs Canada fued. Their main rivals were Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels.
Owen would win his first singles title by defeating Rocky Maivia (AKA The Rock) to win the Intercontinental. While Owen won one title, he lost another as he and Davey Boy lost the Tag Titles to Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin.
Owen and Austin would battle for the IC title at Summerslam 1997. It was there that Owen accidently botched a Tombstone piledriver injuring Austin's neck. Owen would reclaim the IC Title by defeating Faarooq in a tournament final at Badd Blood 1997. It was a bittersweet win as the morning of the show, Foundation member and Hart family friend Brian Pillman was found dead in is hotel room.
Owen lost the IC title back to Austin at Survivor Series 1997 and then disappeared for a few weeks afterwards due to the Montreal Screwjob involving Vince McMahon and Bret Hart. Bret would leave the WWF for WCW with Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith going with him. Owen would stay in the WWF representing his family in a war with DX.
Owen would defeat Triple H for the European Title in early 1998. Owen would lose the title back to Triple H. After failing attempts to regain the title, Owen turned heel and joined the Nation and fueded with DX.
After the Nation split, Owen floundered about a bit and brought back the Blue Blazer. In January 1999, Owen teamed with Jeff Jarrett to defeat Ken Shamrock and The Big Bossman. They would hold them a short time before losing them to Kane and X-Pac.
On May 23, 1999 on a WWF PPV called Over the Edge, Owen (dressed as The Blue Blazer) was set to take on the Godfather for the Intercontinental title in a match that Owen was set to win when tragedy struck. Owen was preparing to do a superhero type entrance as he was to be lowered from the raptures. But he accidently set the release and he plummeted 70 or 80 feet breaking his neck in the process. A short time later, he was announced dead on arrival.
It has been 8 years since this has happened and when this day comes, I still can't believe that it happened. I just want to say this: RIP Owen Hart. :sa04:
That is all for now.

Hey all
Back again with the COMPLETE results of the 2007 WWE draft lottery.
But before I do, I have some sad news to report if you haven't heard yet.
Sherri Russell, better known as Sherri Martel or Sensational Sherri to longtime WWF fans, passed away Friday morning at age 49.
Sherri was a longtime women's wrestler and was WWF Women's champion in the mid to late 80s.
Sherri also managed several different wrestlers in several different federations. In the AWA, she managed the tag team of Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Sommers. If the WWF, she managed Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase and Shawn Michaels and had brief alliances with Marty Jannetty and Tatanka. After signing with WCW in 1994, she managed Ric Flair and Harlem Heat.
In 2006, Sherri became just the second woman inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. This is yet another sad loss in a year that lost too many big names in the business and she will be missed.
Now onto the WWE supplemental draft that took place this afternoon. Here are the complete results from both this past Monday on Raw and this afternoon on WWE's website:
To ECW
The Boogeyman
Chris Benoit
Viscera
The Miz
Johnny Nitro
To Smackdown
The Great Khali
Torrie Wilson
Chris Masters
Ric Flair
Kenny Dykstra
Hardcore Holly
Brett Major
Brian Major
Victoria
Eugene
To Raw
King Booker
Queen Sharmell
Bobby Lashley
Gene Snitsky
Ken Kennedy
Brian Kendrick
Paul London
The Sandman
Daivari
William Regal
Jillian Hall
So the question is obvious here: Which brand do you think got the better end of the draft lottery? Which brand do you think got shafted the most? I will leave it up to you to answer.
That is all for now.
Hey all
I have some sad news. WWE.com has reported that Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy (Formerly known in WCW as Woman) and their son were found dead. With the fake McMahon death angle they have going, I hope to god that this is not true. If it is, this will be a very big blow to WWE and they need to stop the Vince death angle immediatly.
Chris Benoit was trained by Stu Hart and began his career in 1986. He competed in Stampede, Mexico and Japan as the Pegasis Kid.
In 1993, he wrestled in WCW for his first full time gig he made his full time WCW debut with a win over Brad Armstrong. He lost to 2 Cold Scorpio in a show stealer at Superbrawl 3 and teamed with Bobby Eaton for a short time before leaving to go back to Japan.
In 1994, Benoit spent some time in the old ECW where he got the nickname The Crippler by accidently breaking the neck of Sabu. He and Dean Malenko won the ECW Tag Team Titles.
In 1995, Benoit returned to WCW where he was invited to join the Four Horsemen where he stayed from 1995 to 1997 when the Horsemen disbanded. During that WCW run, he had a long fued with Kevin Sullivan which ended at Bash at The Beach 1997. He then jumped into a fued with Raven and his Flock.
In 1998, Benoit won his first title when he and Booker T traded the TV Title four times. None of those title changes were ever mentioned on WCW TV however.
Later in 1998, The Four Horsemen were put back together with Flair, Steve McMichael, Benoit and Dean Malenko.
In 1999, Benoit finally won his first recognized title when he and Malenko won the WCW Tag Team Titles from Curt Hennig and Barry Windham at Uncensored. Being unhappy by mistreatment from Ric Flair as the storyline WCW President, Benoit and Malenko left the Horsemen and joined The Revolution with Shane Douglas and Perry Saturn.
Benoit won his first recognized singles Title when he beat David Flair for the WCW US Title. Benoit lost that title to Sid Vicious but rebounded to win the TV Title from Rick Steiner. Friction in the Revolution led to Benoit and Malenko leaving the group but Malenko later turned on Benoit and rejoined Douglas and Saturn.
In late 1999 and early 2000, WCW was in turmoil as several WCW wrestlers were unhappy and wanted out. Benoit was among them. WCW put the WCW Title on Benoit to try to get him to stay but it didn't work as Benoit, Malenko, Saturn and Eddie Guerrero all left WCW for the WWF where they were dubbed The Radicals.
Benoit lost his WWF debut match to Triple H. The Radicals turned heel and joined Triple H and X-Pac in defeating The Rock, Cactus Jack, Rikishi and Too Cool in an awesome 10 man tag match on Raw.
Benoit won his first WWF title by winning the Intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania 2000 in a triple threat match involving Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho. Benoit and Jericho would go on to trade the IC Title in mid 2000 before losing his second IC Title to Rikishi. In the summer of 2000, Benoit became a contender to the WWF Title and had a great match with The Rock but Benoit came up a little bit short.
The Benoit and Jericho fued concluded for a short time at Summerslam 2000 when Benoit defeated Jericho in a 2 out of 3 fall match.
Benoit would win his third IC title before the end of 2000 with a win over Billy Gunn at Armageddon 2000. Also by the end of the year, Benoit and Jericho got their fued burning again.
Benoit lost the IC Title to Jericho in a ladder match at the Royal Rumble 2001. Benoit later turned face and started a fued with Kurt Angle that led to a fantastic series of matches first at Wrestlemania 17 that Angle won. A 30 Minute Iron Man Match at Backlash 2001 that Benoit won and a two out of three fall match at Judgment Day that Angle won. While Benoit lost the JD match to Angle, Benoit shocked everyone when he teamed with Chris Jericho to win a number one contender match to get a Tag Team Title Match.
Benoit and Jericho shocked everybody when they won the WWF Tag Team Titles from Steve Austin and Triple H. As a sidenote, this is the match that Triple H suffered the quad injury. Benoit and Jericho retained the titles in a TLC match on Smackdown on free tv. Benoit and Jericho also became contenders to the WWF title and both fought Steve Austin for the title in a triple threat match at King of the Ring 2001. Austin won by pinning Benoit but Benoit suffered a neck injury that kept him out of action for the remainder of 2001.
In 2002, The WWF (now WWE) had split the company in two between Raw and Smackdown with Vince McMahon drafting Benoit as his third draft pick for Smackdown. Benoit returned in June of 2002 but returned to Raw as permitted by McMahon (who had since regained control of the whole company). After a breif fued between Benoit and Guerrero and Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley, Benoit won the IC Title from Rob Van Dam on Raw. Later in the week, Benoit and Guerrero moved from Raw to Smackdown with Benoit taking the IC title with him. Benoit would lose the title back to RVD at Summerslam.
Tempers flared again between Benoit and Kurt Angle which triggered another fued between them with a twist. After Benoit beat Angle at Unforgiven, Stephanie McMahon forced Benoit and Angle to team up in a tournament for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles. Benoit and Angle won the titles in a tournament final over Edge and Rey Misterio Jr at No Mercy 2002. They held the Titles for a few weeks before losing them to Edge and Misterio.
In 2003, Benoit lost to Smackdown Champion Angle in the match of the night at the Royal Rumble 2003 and started teaming with Rhino to contend for the Tag Team Titles. At Vengeance 2003, Benoit lost to Eddie Guerrero in a tournament final for the reactivated WWE US Title after Rhino turned against him.
At the end of the year, Benoit was a target of Paul Heyman (Who had replaced Stephanie as Smackdown General Manager) after Benoit nearly beat Brock Lesnar for the Smackdown Title. Heyman denied Benoit any rematches with Lesnar.
Heyman further punished Benoit by making him the first entry in the 2004 Royal Rumble. Benoit won the match last eliminating The Big Show and then jumped to Raw to challenge Triple H for the Raw Title. Shawn Michaels was also put into the match at Wrestlemania 20 making it a Triple Threat Match making Benoit the ultimate Underdog. Benoit shocked the world by making Triple H tap at WM20 winning the Raw Title.
Benoit won a Triple Threat Rematch at Backlash 2004this time making Shawn Michaels. Benoit teamed with Edge to win the Raw Tag Titles from Ric Flair and Batista on Raw but lost them one month later to La Resistance. Benoit beat Kane at Bad Blood. Beat Triple H at Vengeance 2004. Beat Triple H again in an 60 minute Ironman match on Raw. Benoit's luck ran out at Summerslam 2004 as he lost the title to a red hot Randy Orton.
The remainder of 2004 PPVs saw Benoit team with William Regal to beat Flair and Batista at Unforgiven 2004. Benoit and Edge teamed up to beat La Resistance for the Tag Team Titles at Taboo Tuesday despite the fact that Edge turned on Benoit mid way through the match. Edge would cost himself and Benoit the Tag Titles back to La Resistance on Raw. Benoit teamed with Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and Maven to defeat Triple H, Batista, Edge and Gene Snitsky at Survivor Series.
In 2005, Benoit was a part of the Elimination Chamber match at New Years Revolution against Jericho, Orton, Edge, Batista and eventual winner Triple H.
In June of 2005, Benoit was drafted back to Smackdown in the draft lottery where he won the US title from Orlando Jordan at Summerslam 2005. Benoit and Booker T (who had turned heel) traded the US title back and forth with Benoit winning it at No Way Out 2006.
At Wrestlemania 22, Benoit lost the title to JBL and took time off shortly afterwards to let injuries heel. He returned in October of 2006 defeating William Regal. Benoit won back the US Title from Ken Kennedy.
Benoit had a breif fued with Chavo Guerrero Jr. Benoit defeated Guerrero at Survivor Series and Armageddon.
This year, Benoit got into a fued with MVP and had a great series of matches first at WM 23 and then again at Backlash. MVP finally won the title at Judgment Day.
Three weeks ago, Benoit was drafted to the ECW as a way to work with the younger stars. Benoit was slated to fight CM Punk for the ECW Title last night at Vengeance when personal family problems forced Benoit out of the show and Johnny Nitro took his place. And now WWE.com reports his passing. If this is true, it is a sad time and Benoit will always be the best. If this is true, thank you for the memories and RIP Chris Benoit. :sa04:
That is all for now.

WOW what a sad day. I just saw the story of Benoit hit the news myself and it has been confirmed. Thanks for the timely update RD even though it is another tragic end to a great wrestler.
How awful :( I used to love watching Benoit back in the day. Weird that the wrestling sites have the news but no local Atlanta news sites are carrying it yet.

Wrestler Benoit, wife and son found dead
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a homicide.
Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.
Pope said results of autopsies on Benoit, his wife Nancy, and 7-year-old son Daniel were expected Tuesday.
Benoit, 40, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.
"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the federation said in a statement on its Web site.
Benoit was scheduled to perform at the "Vengeance" pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called "personal reasons."

The latest news:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.
Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, but said that couldn't be confirmed until evidence was examined by a crime lab.
The station said that investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. A neighbor called police, and the bodies were found in three rooms.
That is sad. I really can't see Benoit as someone who would kill his own family and really hope that it isn't true. If it is, then that is a sad ending to one of the best wrestlers in the world. :sa04:

Hey all
I know I haven't posted much here in the last month but work sucks. Sadly I have two more wrestling deaths to report.
The first one is the passing of wrestling legend The Missing Link who died of cancer. I can't give you a career bio of him because I wasn't a fan at the time.
The other one in case you haven't heard is the shocking death of former WWF and WCW star Brian Adams AKA Crush.
Crush entered the WWF in 1990 as the third member of the tag team Demolition. The reasoning in storyline is that Demolition needed an advantage against their opponents and needed a third member as they defend the WWF Tag Team Titles and added Crush to the team. In reality, Ax (Real Name Bill Eadie) was having health issues and Vince McMahon didn't have the confidence or the medical insurance to keep Ax in the ring so Crush and Smash would defend the Titles with Ax on the outside.
Crush made his PPV debut at Summerslam 1990 where he and Smash lost the Titles to The Hart Foundation. After the loss, Demolition got into a feud with The Legion of Doom that Hawk and Animal dominated.
Ax left the WWF and was written out of the storylines when then WWF President Jack Tunney ordered that Demolition must now be only a two man team so Smash and Crush were officially Demolition. Sadly, when Ax left, Demolition were a shell of their former self. On their last legs Demolition had their last Tag Team PPV match at Wrestlemania 7 losing to the Japanese Team of Tenryu and Kitao. Shortly after that loss, Demolition split for good with Crush leaving the WWF for the remainder of 1991 and Smash (real name Barry Darsow) being repackaged as Repo Man.
In spring of 1992, Crush returned to the WWF as a fan favorite without the face paint. He returned to PPV with a win over former partner Repo Man at Summerslam 1992. He would also beat other jobbers like Papa Shango and The Berzerker.
In 1993, he got into a feud with Doink The Clown as Crush was not happy with the evil pranks that Doink was pulling on fans and other wrestlers. The feud was fueled even more after Doink attacked Crush with a metal arm. Crush lost to Doink at Wrestlemania 9 after a second Doink got involved. The Doinks would also cost Crush an Intercontinental Title shot against Shawn Michaels at King of the Ring. Crush would finally get the last word with a win on WWF Superstars.
After the feud with the Doinks, Crush would get a WWF Title shot against Yokozuna. Crush would lose the match and then get banzai splashed four times before Randy Savage came to his aid. Crush would return a few months later with Mr Fuji blaming Savage for the injury because Savage took to long to help him. Crush would attack Savage. After a long feud, Savage would get the last word by beating Crush at Wrestlemania 10 in a falls count anywhere match.
After the Savage feud, Crush would feud with Lex Luger throughout the summer after Crush and Luger cost each other the 1994 King of the Ring Tournament. Luger would go on to win the feud. After that, Crush took time off from the WWF.
Crush returned at the 1995 Royal Rumble but did not win it. Shortly after the Rumble, Crush was arrested for weapons and drug possession and would not return to the ring for the remainder of the year.
Crush would return to the WWF in late 1996 managed by "Lawyer" Clarence Mason but didn't fare well. Crush was one of the original members of Faarooq's group The Nation of Domination with Savio Vega but that group self destructed and Faarooq fired Crush and Vega. Crush would go on to form The DOA with Chainz, Skull and 8Ball to feud with Vega's new group Los Boricuas and Faarooq's new Nation of Domination. Shortly after Survivor Series 1997, Crush left the WWF.
In early 1998, Crush would enter WCW going under his given name Brian Adams and joined the NWO. When the NWO split in two, Adams joined Hulk Hogan's NWO Black and White.
After his uneventful NWO stint, in 2000, Adams joined Bryan Clark (WWF's Adam Bomb and Wrath in WCW) to form Kronik. Kronik would win the Tag Team Titles on a few occasions and remained until the company went out of business.
Kronik had a brief WWF stint to feud with Kane and The Undertaker with was quickly blown off at Unforgiven 2001 in a terrible match. Kronik was let go shortly after that. Kronik had their last big match at a WWA PPV. Adams retired shortly thereafter.
Brian "Crush" Adams, you will be missed. RIP.
Next post tomorrow morning will be the comings and goings in TNA and a few WWE releases.
That's all for now.
Hey all
Just a quick little update before work.
In the last couple weeks, WWE has released a few of their talent. Most notable are the releases of the following: Rene Dupree, Sylvain Grenier, and Idol Stevens.
Dupree debuted in the WWE as a member of La Resistance with Grenier on Raw in 2003. Dupree and Grenier quickly won the Raw Tag Team Titles from Rob Van Dam and Kane. They held the title for over three months before dropping them to The Dudley Boyz. Dupree was sent to Smackdown in the 2004 draft lottery where he was a contender to the US Title and held Smackdown's Tag Team Title with Kenzo Suzuki winning them from Paul London and Billy Kidman and dropping them to Rey Misterio Jr and Rob Van Dam. Dupree was sent back to Raw in the 2005 draft lottery as part of an 11 person trade (ironically, Dupree's former partner Grenier was sent to Smackdown in the trade.) Dupree competed on Raw for a few months before being sidelined by injuries. Dupree returned in the latter half of 2006 on the ECW brand but didn't have the same success there as a singles wrestler. Dupree reteamed with Grenier to reform La Resistance in the ECW brand for one match before being taken off TV again. It reported that the release is because he violated WWE's wellness program.
Sylvain Grenier as said earlier made his in ring debut on Raw in 2003 teaming with Rene Dupree as part of La Resistance winning the Raw Tag Team Titles from Rob Van Dam and Kane and dropping the titles to The Dudley Boyz over three months later. After Dupree was sent to Smackdown in 2004, Grenier kept La Resistance together with Rob Conway as they won the Raw Tag Team Titles from Chris Benoit and Edge. They held them for over 5 months fending off teams like The Hurricane and Rosey, Rhino and Tajiri and others before dropping them to Benoit and Edge at Taboo Tuesday. They regained the titles from Benoit and Edge two weeks later and held them another few weeks before dropping to William Regal and Eugene. They had one more reign in the beginning of 2005 before losing them for the last time to Regal and Tajiri. The team split up in mid 2005 as Grenier was sent to Smackdown in the 2005 draft lottery. On Smackdown, he first played on his past as a male model and then played a French Ambassador. None of the gimmicks really worked. After disappearing for a while, Grenier had a brief La Resistance reunion with Rene Dupree on ECW before disappearing again. In recent weeks Grenier had competed on Raw house shows being accompanied by Maryse. He made is last TV appearance on Smackdown two weeks ago losing to Kane.
Idol Stevens had a brief stint on the Smackdown brand in 2006 teaming with KC James and was managed by Michelle McCool. Stevens and James battled then Smackdown Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick but could not win the titles. Stevens was sent back to OVW never to be seen again.
In TNA, 5 people were released: Jerry Lynn, Brother Runt (Spike Dudley), Matt Bentley, Doug Basham and Damaja (Danny Basham). Bentley was a sad loss as he was one of TNAs best young talent.
Coming into TNA are Dustin Rhodes (Now known as Black Reign), Andrew "Test" Martin (Now known as The Punisher Andrew Martin, Rick Steiner and Football player Adam "Pacman" Jones.
There is also talk of TNA bringing in former WWE champion Brock Lesnar.
On the subject of TNA there are many reports of people being unhappy and many of them saying that they will not resign when their contracts are up. Many has asked for their releases and were turned down. I hope that TNA gets their act together otherwise I fear TNA may go the way WCW did. More on that later in the day (Maybe).
That's all for now.
Hey all
I know I haven't posted here in a while and I apologize. Since the year is almost over, I am going to recap the year that was by recapping a few of the stories in the business. I will begin it later today after I get off work.
That's all for now.

hi all in my oppinion the worst thing to happen to ECW was vince mcmahon. yes he could own it yes he could fund it but leave it in the hands of paul heyman insted of turning it into the joke it has become. ECW had a cult following and mcmahon is trying to turn it into a entertainment brand like raw or smackdown which will not work. i look forward to reading your replies many thanks

:zip:
On ECW, yeah I can agree to an extent. But you have to remember one thing, Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman have both said months and weeks before the brand started that the new ECW would not be anything at all like the old ECW. They warned people in advance for those expecting it to be like the old ECW. I think that the new ECW has it's good points and it's bad points. One of the good points is the fact that the brand has a great Champion in CM Punk and there is some great talent on the brand with Elijah Burke, John Morrison and the much improved Kevin Thorn (formerly Mordecai). The recent addition of Shelton Benjamin is another great move and it could finally give Shelton a well deserved singles push. And the recent "talent agreement" with the ECW brand and the Smackdown brand (which isn't surprising they would go this route since SD and ECW tour together and they tape SD the same night as ECW is live) is doing wonders for both brands.
OK, I promised a trip down memory lane for the year that was here were some of the biggest stories from this year. I know that it is only almost December but close enough and I will probably add more at a later time so here we go:
1. The Benoit Tragedy: There was no bigger story this year than the tragedy that took the lives of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy (Who was known in the wrestling business as former WCW and ECW Valet Woman) and their 7 year old son Daniel. It started on a weekend in late June when Benoit called out of two shows due to a family emergency. He missed a SD/ECW house show and that Sunday's Vengeance PPV where he was slated to take on CM Punk for the ECW Title in a match he was suppose to win. The next day it was learned that Chris, Nancy and Daniel Benoit were found dead in their home in Atlanta. Not knowing the circumstances of their deaths, WWE ran a three hour tribute to Chris on Raw that night. Sadly the next night it was learned that the cause of death was a double murder suicide with the police saying that Chris killed his wife on Saturday, his son on Sunday and himself on Monday. After WWE found out about it, they took all of his pictures off of his website and pulled all of his merchandise (his T shirts, action figures and his DVD) from the shelves. To the WWE after that tragic June weekend, Chris Benoit, a former Raw Champion, multiple time IC Champion, multiple time US Champion and multiple time Tag Team Champion ceased to exist. As much as I would like to remember Chris as one of the finest wrestlers in the world, I just cannot condone the last three days of his life.
2. Wrestling Loses Several Famous Faces: 2007 has to be considered to be one of the worst years to be a fan. Besides Chris and Nancy Benoit, the wrestling world have lost so many famous wrestlers. Among the famous wrestlers dead are Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, Bad News Allen (or Bad News Brown for the WWF fans), Arnold Skaaland, Ernie Ladd, Dewey Robertson (The Missing Link), Sensational Sherri Martel, Brian "Crush" Adams and The Fabulous Moolah. Hopefully come December, we won't lose anyone else and 2008 can be a better year for the business.
More stories to come in another.
More Big Stories of the year:
3. John Cena Injured and Stripped of RAW Title: After a year of defending the WWE Raw Title, it took a torn Pectoral muscle to take the WWE Raw Title away from John Cena. Cena suffered the injury during a match against Ken Kennedy on Raw one week before he was slated to defend (and rumored to lose) the RAW Title against Randy Orton at No Mercy. Cena would be gone for about 8 to 12 months.
4. WWE Suspends Several Superstars: After the Benoit Tragedy, the government started investigating the wrestling business for steroid use. They targeted mainly the WWE since they are the biggest company in the world. Following that, many WWE superstars were suspended after being linked as clients of Orlando-based Signature Pharmacy. Among those suspended were Ken Kennedy, Charlie Haas, Edge, King Booker T, William Regal, Shane (Gregory) Helms, John Hennigan (Nitro or Morrison) Chavo Guerrero Jr and Sho Funaki. Hennigan, Edge, Regal, Haas and Kennedy have since returned. Guerrero could be back at anytime. Booker upset at being suspended quit WWE and has signed with TNA.
5. TNA signs Pacman Jones: In an attempt to get their name out there and to get publicity for their company, TNA Wrestling signed suspended NFL Tennessee Titans star Adam Pacman Jones. This move stunned many outside the company since Jones has been suspended for the entire football season, has been arrested several times and was said to be involved in a shooting of a bar bouncer. TNA signed him for three months making $25,000 per appearance. Due to a contract, the Tennessee Titans would not let Jones physically compete for TNA which means he was getting paid $25,000 per appearance for doing basically nothing. Good pay day says I. So what does TNA do to get around that contract Jones has with the Titans? They team him up with Ron "The Truth" Killings (who had been gone from TNA for months) having Killings wrestle the entire match on his own allowing Jones to get the pin for his team. The Einsteins in TNA also thought it would be a good idea to put the Tag Team Titles on this team. My Take: TNA pays Jones $25,000 PER APPEARANCE. They could have used that money to sign Chris Jericho who would have been worth the money but instead signs a suspended football player who should be in jail and pays him more than just about EVERY wrestler in TNA. TNA also fires 5 wrestlers including two long time employees in Jerry Lynn and Matt Bentley to pay him. Yeah real smart, TNA.
More Stories to come tomorrow.
Hey all,
I am back with some brief wrestling news. There have been many exits from both WWE and TNA.
Bobby Lashley has left the WWE due to a number of reasons. He was unhappy about the way his real life girlfriend Krystal Marshall was released and felt that Vince McMahon should have called him more. Lashley had stated that he wanted to try his hand at MMA.
From the TNA front, three people have said goodbye to TNA. Senshi, Ron "The Truth" Killings and Chris Harris have all left TNA within one months time.
Senshi has been in and out of TNA through the years as he has been in a stable with Elix Skipper and Christopher Daniels called Triple X. Senshi has started competing in Japan where he will go back to the name Lo Ki.
Killings has been in TNA pretty much since day 1. He has held the NWA Title on a few occasions and has held the NWA Tag Team Title with BG James and Konnan as part of a stable called 3Live Kru. After that group disbanded, Killings became lost in the shuffle and he really wasn't happy and decided to leave TNA last year. He was briefly brought back to team with Pacman Jones and won the TNA Tag Team Titles. After dropping the Titles to AJ Styles and Tomko at Bound for Glory 2007, Killings left again, this time for good. Killings has recently signed with the WWE where he competed from late 2000 to summer of 2001 (back when it was the WWF) under the name of K-Kwik.
Wildcat Chris Harris, like Killings, had been with TNA since day 1 when he was brought in as one half of a tag team called America's Most Wanted with The Tennessee Cowboy James Storm. Together, AMW had won the NWA Tag Team Titles several times both as fan favorites and as heels. The team split up in early 2007 after Storm turned heel and Harris turned face. Harris and Storm had a terrible blindfold cage match at Lockdown 2007 but redeemed themselves with a bloody streetfight at the PPV following that. They had a brutal match on Impact that went to a no contest and then after that, the feud was just ended. Harris looked like he was going on the right path for a singles feud with Christian Cage but that was cut short after Harris lost a match to Cage thanks to interference by Black Reign (Dustin "Goldust" Rhodes) and a feud between Harris and Reign was set. Reign squashed Harris at Hard Justice 2007 and that was pretty much it for Harris as he got fed up with TNA and opted not to re sign. Harris, like Killings, has just signed with the WWE as he confirmed on his website yesterday. There is no word what brand Harris will be placed on.
Another guy rumored to have re signed with the WWE is former WWE, WCW and ECW Champion The Big Show. Show was last seen in 2006 when he lost a rematch to new ECW Champion Bobby Lashley after Lashley beat Show for the title at December to Dismember. No word over which brand Show will be on.
I have been pretty disappointed in TNA's product in the last year so I decided I am going to go back to the past and review some of TNAs good shows through the 2004 and some of 2005's PPVs on DVD. I might start tonight or Saturday night depending on my mood.
That is all for now. Peace.
