Sorry Aimeelynn, going to have to get philosophical on you - shoot me for my comments when you see me in NYC.

Like any human, we like to think what we do counts or contributes to something. And like any human, we are saddened when our work or something of the sort doesn't go the way we like.

Your vote this year may have been the one vote needed for Obama to win in your district. However, ALL your past votes also made a difference. Having spent the last year in Iraq, I was excited about voting this year. In my heart, mind & soul, I know I made a difference this year just by going to the voting booth.

Bottom line, I am so happy you regularly vote.

The American people spoke loudly and clearly yesterday and I, for one, am proud. Even traditional Republicans see that George W Bush has been a complete failure. McCain simply promised more of the same. The fact that Obama won in Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, and Iowa speaks volumes about this countries ability to rise above party affiliations and recognize when serious change is needed. I just wish there was some way to get Bush out of office early so he couldn't cause any more damage.

We'll all probably get a good laugh out of Bush's final hour pardons. Biggest list of clowns ever seen, including Roger Clemens more than likely.

Oh I’m sure it won’t beat a list of upstanding people like this!

Peter MacDonald - The day before President Clinton left office, U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy lobbied the White House to commute the sentence of the former leader of the Navajo Nation. MacDonald was sentenced to 14 years at a Federal Prison in Texas for fraud, extortion, inciting riots, bribery, and corruption stemming from the Navajo purchase of the Big Boquillas Ranch in Northwestern Arizona. He was commuted after serving 10 years.

Carlos A. Vignali had his sentence for cocaine trafficking commuted, after serving 6 of 15 years in federal prison.

Almon Glenn Braswell was pardoned of his mail fraud and perjury convictions, even while a federal investigation was underway regarding additional money laundering and tax evasion charges. Braswell and Carlos Vignali each paid approximately $200,000 to Hillary Clinton's brother, Hugh Rodham, to represent their respective cases for clemency. Hugh Rodham returned the payments after they were disclosed to the public.Braswell would later invoke the Fifth Amendment at a Senate Committee hearing in 2001, when questioned about allegations of his having systematically defrauded senior citizens of millions of dollars

Linda Sue Evans and Susan Rosenberg were pardoned. Weather Underground members, they were imprisoned on weapons and explosives charges.

Marc Rich, a fugitive, was pardoned of tax evasion, after clemency pleas from Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, among many other international luminaries. He was required to pay a $100 million dollar fine and waive any use of the pardon as a defense against any future civil charges that were filed against him in the same case. Critics complained that Denise Rich, his former wife, had made substantial donations to the Clinton library and to Mrs. Clinton's senate campaign. Emails uncovered during the course of the investigation revealed that her final donation was provided a year before Scooter Libby requested that she approach Clinton for a pardon. According to Paul Volcker's independent investigation of Iraqi Oil-for-Food kickback schemes, Marc Rich was a middleman for several suspect Iraqi oil deals involving over 4 million barrels of oil. But he was rewarded for his work in the intelligence community.

Susan McDougal, who had already completed her sentence, was pardoned for her role in the Whitewater scandal; McDougal had served 18 months on contempt charges for refusing to testify about Clinton's role.

Dan Rostenkowski, a former Democratic Congressman convicted in the Congressional Post Office Scandal.

Melvin J. Reynolds, a Democratic Congressman from Illinois, who was convicted of bank fraud, 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice, and solicitation of child pornography had his sentence commuted on the bank fraud charged and was allowed to serve the final months under the auspices of a half way house. He had served his entire sentence on child sex abuse charges before the commutation of the later convictions.

Roger Clinton, the president's half-brother, on drug charges after having served the entire sentence more than a decade before. Roger Clinton would be charged with drunk driving and disorderly conduct in an unrelated incident within a year of the pardon.

I’m sure some of these people will meaningful positions in the Obama administration.

Just to let you know, the Dems have controlled the Senate and Congress the last 2 years and they have the lowest approval ratings ever!

So, the Dems have to look in the mirror on some of these issues also!

I agree with that. People get played for suckers only because they allow themselves to be played for suckers. Personally, I 'd like to see both parties become weaker and more voters consider themselves to be independents or libertarians (small "L"). But unfortunately, I don't see that happening. So every 2-4 years, the kings will get the peasants all lathered up by using cheap propaganda techniques which play to base emotions. And neither party is without blame. Both parties rely on rah-rah partisans, who don't have the ability to think outside the self-imposed boxes in their heads. And in that way, nothing is really changing.

I'm not prepared to say that Obama is going to be good or bad for the nation. I don't think he's going to be as bad as some of the neocon cheerleaders claim. And I don't think he's going to solve every problem short of cancer either. I only know the obvious: George W. Bush was VERY bad for the nation... and I'm glad that he is getting the bum's rush. I hope this eight year episode teaches us that it is a bad idea to elect people of relatively low intelligence to high public office. But from certain quarters, I hear chants of Sarah 2012! Sarah 2012!, so who knows. My rule is, once burned, twice shy. But I guess some people never learn.

But here's to a brighter tomorrow for all of us.

This isn't an opinion on Obama's presidency either way but I feel that voters in 2012 are going to look at the fact that there's a massive cleanup required on his part and that it's a job he can't do in four years alone. If you get my drift..

I think I understand what you mean, Stretch. Yes, we're in a deep, deep hole. And no, I don't think we are going to dig our way out in four years... no matter who would be in charge.

Oh no, Mr. Yes-We-Can says he can fix everything with economy, win the war, feed the hungry, and he's able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Mr. Yes-We-Can!

Yes, it's Mr. Yes-We-Can - strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Mr. Yes-We-Can - who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel with his bare hands, and who, disguised as Barack Hussein Obama, mild mannered Senator from Illinois, fights the never ending battle for Truth, Justice and the Socialist Way.
